When it comes to Boarding up then there are a few things to remember.
It is always best to avoid damage on the exterior window or door that needs to be boarded up. This will avoid further expense in the future
The area that needs to be secured should always be the glass area. Unless the glass is shattered are still holding in place then the boarding up should always avoid screwing into the UPVC or wooden frame.
For maximum strength and minimum damage the best way to board up a window or door is to have a piece of ply on the outside and batons on the inside
The batons on the inside should be bolted to the board on the bored taught against the frame. This is the safest way for the boarding to be held and makes it very difficult for the boarding to be prized off in the future.
Putting up a window or door should always been looked upon as a temporary measure to securing a property. Because of the weather boarding up materials will always deteriorate with time and so at most we advise that boarding up material should not really be used to secure a property for a month at the most. The boarding used should be either an effective waterproof treated plywood or CDX boards.
