When a Tilt and Slide patio door begins to develop problems then unless they are dealt with fairly soon, they can develop into major problems that can also become very costly.
Most of the tilt and slide patio and balcony doors are manufactured in Europe. And so parts can sometimes take a couple of weeks to obtain unless specific parts are available with certain UK distributors. This would be more likely the case with parts that break more often and are more commonly replaced.
A Tilt and Slide door is so called because it usually has a specific action to opening And closing. The handle is turned down allowing the top of the door to tilt inwards and then the bottom of the door can also be pulled out. Once the door has been pulled out of its locked position, this then allows it to slide along its track and fully open.
Because of the method of opening the locking, the sliding mechanisms are very complexed. And sometimes because of the complexity can easily be damaged.
